Reaching Out in Love

“We are the Church!”  The words to that old song ring true at St. John’s – we are the church that reaches out to the world with the love of Jesus.   We are always looking for ways to connect with our neighbors – both in Coal Township and around the world.  We support our local food pantry – Manna for the Many –  all year round but also during special Sunday programs such as Harvest Home in the fall and Souper Bowl of Caring (on Super Bowl Sunday, of course!).  Each month we pick a food item to collect.  June is Cereal Month – July is Peanut Butter Month – August is Canned Fruit month.  The Missions Table gets piled high with generous donations for Manna for the Many.  Our community is important to us and we always find ways to show our appreciation to the men and women who serve us.

John Wesley said “The world is my parish” and we agree.  Wherever there is a need, whether due to natural disasters, economic struggles, lack of adequate food or water, we want to help.  By assembling and distributing flood buckets of cleaning supplies, school kits for impoverished school children, baby clothes and diapers for the Pregnancy Care Center, or providing financial support for missionaries overseas, we reach out to our world with love – love in action, that is!

FLOOD BUCKETS READY TO GO!

Christmas is coming – time to stuff shoeboxes with toys, school supplies, and toiletries for children all around the world.  We partner with Operation Christmas Child each year at this time to send joy in the name of Christ as we celebrate His birth.  Shoeboxes are due by Monday November 18th for deliver to the local distribution center.
